What causes menopause?

Menopause is a natural process: the function of the ovaries gradually declines with age until the ovaries stop producing eggs, and the female hormones estrogen and progesterone are no longer being produced. Menopause can also be induced by surgery or sometimes by the use of chemotherapy drugs.
