Is surgery an option for treatment of sinusitis?

For long-term or severe sinusitis, you could be referred to see an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist to discuss the possibility of surgery. Due to the risk of complications associated with any surgery, other treatment options are usually considered first. However, the benefits of surgery may outweigh the risks in situations where sinusitis is due to a severe fungal allergy or structural nose issues, such as polyps, large adenoids, or a damaged nose.
