How is sinusitis treated?

Most cases of sinusitis are short-term and tend to clear without treatment in 7-10 days. However, if the condition is long-term or symptoms deteriorate, treatment options could include self-care measures, such as salt water rinses, over-the-counter decongestants and prescription medications. Surgery may be recommended in cases of structural issues in the nose or if other treatments have not successfully treated chronic sinusitis.
