How is hepatitis treated?

Treatment of hepatitis often depends on the specific cause. In general, treatment focuses on managing the symptoms, supporting your body's immune system, helping the body recover and easing the burden on your liver as much as possible. Bed rest, hydration and good nutrition are usually recommended. For severe cases of hepatitis, medication may be required. If your liver has been seriously damaged, a liver transplant may be required to avoid death.
