Are there different types of prostate cancer?

There are several types of prostate cancer. The type of prostate cancer you have depends on the type of cell the cancer starts in. Adenocarcinoma starts in glandular cells of the prostate, which produce seminal fluid; sarcoma starts in the muscle near the prostate; transitional cell carcinoma starts in the lining of the urethra, which passes through the prostate, and; small cell cancer starts in neuroendocrine cells of the prostate.
