What is dry macular degeneration (MD)?

Dry macular degeneration (MD) is the more common form of the condition, in which waste products (called drusen) accumulate underneath the central retina and gradually cause damage. Symptoms often develop slowly in dry MD and do not tend to be as severe. In its early stages, people with the condition may not know they have it.
