What are the symptoms of tinnitus?

Tinnitus can differ from person to person, but common noises heard inside the ears or head may include ringing, humming, whistling, buzzing, hissing or roaring. These noises may be short-term or long-term and may be heard in one or both ears. Symptoms also tend to be more noticeable in quiet situations, or during times of stress and tiredness.
